Sometimes, the price of technology theft can even risk world peace, just like in the case of the Iranians, who developed a new attack drone based on a top-secret CIA technology they reverse engineered. In the bipolar world we live in, technology, open source software, and knowledge are freely shared on one hand, while the need to prevent attackers from reverse engineering proprietary technologies is growing on the other.
